I’ve missed modern rock. It’s a weird thing to say, but with all the punk, funk, americana bayou blues tunes I’ve been listening to over the past couple of months, I hadn’t realised how much I missed a solid modern rock band that drives its rhythm through your brain until there’s nothing else you can think about except the pulse of the song.
But I’ve found a band to replenish my lacking guitar sound – LA’s Dead Country.
Dead Country has been so kind as to give fans a free download of their new single “Euro Trash” so if you liked the video above, download the song here:
This is such an obscure reference that I’ll be surprised if anyone gets it, but Dead Country sounds like a more rocking version of the possibly-no-longer-existing British band, Long View, whose music took up my entire summer touring around Europe a few years back. But Dead Country’s tunes are just that – something you soundtrack memorable times to. Their debut self-titled EP rocks the melodic chorus the way Yellowcard used to do back when we were teenagers and still listened to Yellowcard.
They’re part emo, part loud, part pop-rock and all good. Join Dead Country online on Facebook, Twitter or MySpace or www.deadcountry.net. Buy the Dead Country EP on iTunes.
